"A thoroughly enjoyable stay in the Garden Room. We were overwhelmed by the high quality of the apartment and enjoyed the additional freedom of an apartment versus a standard hotel room. A totally relaxing stay with all the comforts of home. Added features of the heated floors, bathrobes, large bath and replenished fresh produce each day made the trip even more enjoyable. Our hosts were most helpful and ensured we had everything we required throughout our stay." (99014749)

"We were going out in Edinburgh but as the accommodation is fantastic and the staff are extremely helpful we decided to stay in and have a carry-out (all menus available in room to browse). The stay was thoroughly enjoyable!" (99150117)
Very spacious and luxurious

"When we initially made the booking we were a little unsure as to whether or not the Chester Residence really existed as it sounded too good to be true. An email exchange confirmed that everything was in order. We were not at all disappointed. The apartments are close to the centre so very convenient for a leisure break. Everything was perfect from the fresh fruit salad in the fridge and the organic bread to the comfortable big bed. I wish that we could have stayed longer. I can't recommend this enough and will definitely be going back." (3305055189)
STYLISH AND COMFORTABLE. THEY HAVE THOUGHT OF EVERYTHING. IT'S THE SMALL THINGS THAT MAKE IT SPECIAL.

"This hotel was wonderful. The staff was very friendly and helpful. We really enjoyed the size of our room, the living room, the kitchen and the garden outside our french doors. The color scheme was very restful and we had fresh flowers every day. A variety of breakfast items were left in our refrigerator during the day and we could select and prepare our own breakfast on our own schedule. The location was great. Near enough to walk to major attractions, but on a quiet street. A gem." (3304427056)
The room was so spacious and the garden was beautiful outside our door.
nothing, it was wonderful.

"I cannot recommend this property enough. I go to Edinburgh to see family twice a year - I will certainly stay there from now on. The apartment concept is great and the included breakfast is way above the usual muffins and coffee. Management is great and service is 150%. Nothing is too much trouble." (99453290)
Very central, Management went out of their way to help me.

"It was simply faultless, a term I have never used before! The standard of furnishings, decor and fittings are extremely high and the size of rooms (even bathrooms) is quite exceptional (unheard of in the middle of a city!). The location is perfect (convenient and yet quiet), top quality toiletries and breakfast ingredients are provided every day and you get a very warm welcome from the helpful owners. What more could you want? It is expensive, but you could not be disappointed and I would recommend it unreservedly." (2944830)
Spacious, contemporary decor, excellent condition (not tatty or tired) and spotlessly clean, very warm welcome, everything worked - especially the excelent quality showers, perfect location, quality toiletries and breakfast ingredients
I feel mean even saying this as it is only a very minor point of personal taste: I prefer duvets to sheets & blankets, the boxy sofas were slightly uncomfortable for 'long-term' relaxing!

"The accommodation is of an extremely high standard and the location is convenient yet quiet. All in all a great place to stay." (2983401)
The standard of refurbishment was excellent with attention to areas often overlooked such as sound proofing. Small touches such as provision of coffee and sweets!

From the friendly welcome, including recommendations for dinner, through to the excellent continental breakfast left in the fridge our stay was fantastic - we have already recommended the Chester Residence and will continue to do so." "The whole experience was brilliant, Edinburgh itself is a beautiful and exciting city, the apartment would encourage me to look out for and book an apartment in the future, very home from home, and I think the owners have a more personal pride in caring for the guests and looking after the accommodation. Thank you for making our stay in Edinburgh an enjoyable and relaxing one." (2051539)
The owners were lovely, the accommodation was spotless, modern, bright and beautiful, very relaxing and quiet. The bedding was very comfortable and the wardrobes had loads of space and plenty of hangers. The shower was brilliant, loads of power.
I could not think of any areas the hotel could improve on.

"The accommodation is excellent in many ways. The style and age of the building mean that it retains older and succesful means of sound insulation, yet it has all the ambience and level of equipment of a modern five star hotel. Nice quiet neighbourhood yet within only minutes of shops, restaurants and entertainment. And.... it was less expensive than a double room, without breakfast at a number of the city`s hotels." (2106832)
Friendly welcome, but without being intrusive. The accomodation was comfortable, modern and answered all requirements, yet retaining the character of a typical Edinburgh townhouse.
Hard to consider that the accommodation and service could be improved upon.

"The accommodation was as better than described and more photos should be provided. The accommodation maps in the accommodation brochure were more detailed than on active hotels. As I was on holiday I would have liked to have had an idea of the approx time the room would be serviced, so I could 'lie in' without worry, or a 'do not disturb' sign for reassurance. A dressing table mirror and stool would have made it for me for make-up and hair, although my partner didn't feel it missed anything. Breakfast was lovely although we did find ourselves on the second day looking for bread, perhaps this could be optional?. The wine supplied was well selected with price and quality in mind - We did like the Champagne on the first day, perfectly chilled and ready for an evening in. Thanks for a lovely stay" (2203364)
Fantastic area, quiet but close enough to walk to anywhere. A personal service that was better than any 5* hotel. For relaxation, styling and luxury this was a great place to stay for business or pleasure.
Not many really, minor tweaks like 'do not disturb' door hangers and a dressing table mirror for the ladies - so really no complaints here

"Our apartment (No.2 on the first floor) was absolutely superb in every way, we honestly couldn't fault it. If you're looking for a truly 5 star experience in or around Edinburgh forget the traditional hotels, this is THE place to stay. The owners, Jacky and Brian, have created a real home from home feel and helped to make our stay a memorable experience." (3304995723)
The location, quality and size of the apartment were all superb.

"This was pretty close to perfect and completely painless. If they had picked up from and dropped of to the trian station, they would have achieved Virgin Atlantic premium service standards! The only problem we had was booking top class restaurants on saturday in the middle of the festival. Could have been warned about this, but it seems a bit spoilt to complain about it - probably exceptional circumstances." (1358007)
excellent and spacious apartment with friendly hosts and close to the the city centre. Almost all things have been thought out and executed well
breakfast provision rather meager and limited choice - had to go out and buy more orange juice!

The Chester Residence was outstanding! The apartment felt like a home away from home. The amentities and extra touches such as; fresh fruit in the fridge, full selection of sky satellite TV channels & free broadband connection made for a great overall experience.
Location from city centre attractions

Lovely location in the New Town. Fabulously spacious rooms. Great view over the gardens. Perfect privacy. Powerful shower
Kitchen was very small, but to be fair there were other suites we could have chosen with larger kitchens and we did minimal cooking

"Superb executive accommodation within easy reach of the city centre. Initially seemed expensive but when checking other forms of accommodation in the city it was very reasonable for four. A very good continental breakfast with lots of variety. When staying over the weekend private parking was provided. The rooms were a good size and very well decorated. The whole apartment was immaculate with a housekeeping visiting each day. The equipment in the rooms was brilliant with a pleasant suprise of a DVD player and CD player, and the use of a selection of DVD's and CD's. I would thoroughly recommend this accommodation, if you want to spoil yourself a little." (3304575274)
The space, decor, equipment and overall ambiance was exceptional.
No way of opening velux window in kitchen. No door on freezer compartment in fridge.

"Fantastic experience! We could forget real life for a moment on this break because of this stay. This accomodation is on calm and safe residential area.Staff are kind and friendly. All rooms are neat and tide, these are super comfortable. In the sitting room, fireplace and high speed internet connection is avairable. We could have breakfast according to our schedule whenever we would but had to cook by ourself. Everyday fresh bread, eggs, some fresh fruits and yogurt are avairable in the fridge. Additionally they has free rental DVD movie service." (2115817)
Enough space on every room to stay on holiday, with of course enough hospitality!

"Excellent facility, maintained to a wonderful standard. Exceptional cleanliness and many small touches to make the accommodation more than just another room. Food in the fridge on arrival, trust conveyed with the guests through the free avialability of DVD's. Also, the interaction with the proprietors was friendly, extremely helpful and demonstrated a flexibility and customer responsiveness that I have rarely experienced. It appeared that the approach by the proprietors came more from a genuine desire to ensure that customers did indeed have the best experience possible while staying at the Chester Residence than from a simple customer satisfaction perspective. I will have NO hesitation in recommending the accommodation to people and will be using it again when in Edinburgh." (97137258)
Location, composition of the rooms, facilities available, flexibility with utilisation of the premises. Private usage of a walled garden. Exceptionally appointed fixtures and fittings. Utmost cleanliness.
Even the car parking, though difficult was accommodated by the proprietors - very helpful indeed.
